Our inaugural Whispers’ Words of Wisdom live webinar was held on Friday 31st July. It saw Tom Clarke and David Thorne, from the Mtech Access NHS Insights & Interaction team, review some of the insights from our earlier series: ‘How is COVID-19 impacting the NHS?’, as well as explore trends and challenges uncovered in conversation with our network of NHS Associates. From capacity management to changing performance measures, watch the video recording below to discover what’s changing in the NHS, the impact on the NHS long-term plan and what all this means for the future of market access.
Tom and David begin by reflecting on the last four months (leading to July 2020), what has changed in the NHS and how this has evolved over time. They explore how the NHS response to the pandemic has impacted long-term plan priorities, particularly in the light of the recently published Evidence Based Interventions Engagement document (from http://www.aomrc.org.uk/ebi/).
Tom and David also discuss cooperation, collaboration and capacity management both within the NHS and with the independent sector. They consider how quickly hospitals and primary care will be able to clear the backlog of patients and the measures that might be brought in to enable this.
Taking all of this into consideration, David and Tom discuss how the pharma and medtech industries can support the NHS at this time and how these changes may impact the future of market access. For example, they explore how changes to performance measures may affect future economic models and how economic evaluations could be made more relevant to local commissioning decisions.
The Whispers' Words of Wisdom Live Webinar Series
This webinar is the first in a monthly series, which we are entitling Whispers’ Words of Wisdom. Each month, we will be having in-depth and far-reaching conversations with senior colleagues from within the NHS. We will explore what their immediate priorities are, what they see as the greatest challenges the NHS faces and how it might respond to them.
Importantly we will also hear some positive examples of how their organisations are improving care for their populations and gather suggestions for what they would like to see from the healthcare industries to help them further their agendas.
This new series follows the success of our weekly webinars, ‘How is COVID-19 impacting the NHS?’, which ran from April to June 2020. Feedback from the COVID series suggested audience members would welcome longer sessions that would enable a deeper and broader exploration of key challenges and trends. We have taken this feedback in to account and are delighted to announce that these sessions will run for a full hour.
We invite you to put your questions to our experts in these sessions. Details and the registration link for our next #WhispersWordsofWisdom webinar will be released shortly. This webinar will be held on Friday 28th August at 2.00 pm (BST). If you would like to be notified when registration opens or if you have a question you would like to us to put to our speaker at the August webinar, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
These webinars are free to attend and are open to all market access, patient access, field-based and other HCP-facing teams in pharmaceutical and medtech companies. We also welcome colleagues from the NHS to join us for these webinars. Several NHS guests have listened in to recent webinars, welcoming the opportunity to learn from their peers from other parts of the country and different parts of the system.
